Geographical situation of the
Aragonese Autonomous Region in Spain and in EuropeAragon
is one of the 17 Autonomous Regions forming the Spanish
State. It is situated in the North Eastern quarter of the
Iberian Peninsula and its 47,724 km2 amount to 9.5% of
the total national surface. The Autonomous region is composed of three provinces, from North to South: Huesca, Saragossa and Teruel. In the northern part of Huesca the Pyrenees, a mountain chain rising from East to West, separate Aragon from France and more specifically from the following French regions: Haute Garonne, Hautes Pyrénées and Basses Pyrénées. The Ebro river runs in the middle of a large valley dividing two orographic systems: the Pyrenees in the North and the Iberian System in the South. Teruel, at the centre of the latter mountain system, is the southern versant of Aragon. The bordering Autonomous Regions, clockwise, are Catalonya, Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla-Leon, La Rioja and Navarra. L'Aragon est une des 17 Communautés

représentent 9,5% de la superficie nationale totale. Aragon, una de las diecisiete Comunidades Autónomas que configuran el Estado Español, se halla situada en el Noreste de la Península Ibérica, ocupando 47.724 Km2, que corresponden al 9,5% del total de la superficie nacional. La integran tres provincias que, de Norte a Sur, son: Huesca, Zaragoza y Teruel. En la parte norte de la provincia de Huesca se encuentra la cordillera montañosa de los Pirineos, limítrofe con Francia y correspondiéndose con los Departamentos franceses del Alto Garona, Altos Pirineos y Bajos Pirineos. En el centro de Aragón, la provincia de Zaragoza está atravesada de NE a SE por el río Ebro que constituye un amplio valle que separa dos sistemas orográficos: los Pirineos al Norte y el Sistema Ibérico al Sur, en cuyo núcleo central se asienta la provincia deTeruel que forma la vertiente meridional de la región aragonesa. Las Comunidades Autónomas limítrofes, siguiendo la dirección Este - Sur - Oeste, son: Cataluña, Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha,Castilla-León, La Rioja y Navarra.
